questioning david "godfather" stern's motives, pointing out that as a black man, he is offended that stern intimates that the agents are running the show. i won't say it's flat out racist; it's simply paternalistic, as stern often is. as if no one else knows as much as this master of basketball marketing.

In today’s episode of “Your Tax Dollars Really ARE At Work!” as presented by the US House of Representatives, David Stern, Billy Hunter and other NBA representatives are brought in front of some tough-talking men in suits trying to make their presence felt. “How about more one random test?”

For once, David Stern’s Godfather routine is welcome by this observer—calling out Rep. Markey for saying that even though the NBA tests for steroids that we don’t know about players’ use of performance enhancing drugs. The congressman is calling the players guilty by association; there is no reason to think the players do ‘roids until there is some evidence. We have had cocaine and probably amphetamines; the players smoke reefer like they live in Humboldt County, and that is one thing.

There is no reason to think the players are not clean; I don’t know basketball players who lift and work out. Culturally, baseball and football players worry about power, and those are the people who are attracted to steroids.

But please, save us all from the congressional blow jobs. And these old people jokes.
